The K-Zone: Treaty of Amsterdam

This treaty was signed in 1999, and makes a number of significant ammendments to the earlier treaties. These ammendments mostly have the effect of strengthening and expanding the competence of the EU, particularly in the areas of foreign policy, and police and judicial cooperation. The Treaty of Amsterdam also had the effect of renumbering the provisions of earlier treaties. In these pages, only the new numbers are given unless otherwise stated.
